The Official Miller Creek Fall Bucket List

As the temperatures drop, there’s no better time to explore all the local hotspots around Miller Creek! With family-friendly festivals, scenic nature spots,and local brews and bites, everybody has something to look forward to this fall. Our guide will lead you to a variety of activities and the best spots, in and outdoors, right outside the park.

Texas Marigold Festival 

From October 18-27, 2024, the 4th annual Texas marigold festival will be in full bloom in Blanco, Texas! This hometown festival will get you in the spirit of the Fall season! Movies, music, and a vendor’s market will all be available. The festival itself is free to attend, with tons of events free as well. All events are individually priced on the official website

Events like movie nights, garland and ristra making, and marigold field tours are already planned. Visit whichever events peak your interest, and enjoy the sights and smells as we finally get to cool down from the Summer heat.

Oktoberfest

From October 4th-6th, Oktoberfest takes over Fredricksburg for the biggest German celebration in Texas! Come and experience  Gemütlichkeit (Don’t worry y’all, we had to google it too) from the unique culture, foods, and atmosphere just up the road from the park. Tickets are $15 for adults, and only $1 for kids, and can be purchased online. Save them to your phone before you pack up your Lederhosen for the trip!

Check their official website to see all the details for the weekend. Full German and American menus are available, as well as what beers will be on tap to keep you cool and festive all weekend long. Don’t miss out on the contests, tubas, and open market that will be available as the festival goes on.

Blanco State Park 

If you’re looking for a more relaxed time outdoors, look no further than Blanco State Park, just 14 minutes from Miller Creek! This small park hugs a one-mile stretch of the river and if you’re getting in the water, you can swim, fish, paddle or boat. 

Swim anywhere along the river. Small children will enjoy the shallow wading pool next to Falls Dam. You can rent tubes at the park store, or bring your canoe, kayak or boat (electric motors only). Or rent a single or double kayak or tube at the park store to use in the park (available seasonally; $20 credit card deposit required). Tickets are $5 for ages 13 & up, children 12 and younger have free admission!

Hill Country Lavender

With the temperatures slowly falling, there might not be a more relaxing place to be outside than the Hill Country Lavender Farm. With free entry and no reservations needed, take a walk through the full lavender bushes that cover More than 2,000 lavender plants spread across two fields of neat rows on two and a half acres in Blanco County. 

Visitors are invited to cut their own lavender throughout the lavender season (when blooms are available), and you can visit their shop full of Lavender-based products. Sugar, body washes, candles, oils, and dried plants for a multitude of uses. Take your time enjoying the fields, and consider their info booklet on growing your own Lavender plant if you can’t get enough.

Pecan Street Brewing 

There may be no better place to relax and enjoy a little bit of everything than Pecan Street Brewing. With stacked brunch, lunch, and dinner menus, award-winning beer, and even space for pets, PSB has the space for you to relax for a few hours any given day of the week. Order a flight to get the full flavor and decide which one is your favorite.

Check their instagram for events throughout the month. On any given night, there could be live music, local vendors, door prizes, and their highlighted menu items. Take advantage of their deals, or enjoy the people watching, it’s a hotspot in Johnson City!

Burg’s Corner

If you’re visiting in September, then you’re just in time for Peach Season in Stonewall, Texas! There’s no better place than Burg’s Corner, an 80-acre Hill Country orchard operated by the Duecker family. Along with peaches, there’s also apricots, plums, figs, apples, pears, & pecans harvested, right from the farm to you. 

Visit the co-op in person to see all of the independently owned business and products that are locally owned and ready to be purchased, or even shipped right to you if you need more. Jellies and preservatives, sauces, and of course, the signature peaches are all available! Visit their website for the full store and say hello to the Dueckers if you get to visit! The family still operates their peach business, and have been active since the 1950’s!

However you decide to enjoy your stay this fall, there’s no shortage of Texas-sized fun around Miller Creek RV Park. From soaking up the quiet beauty of the Blanco River to kickin’ back with some local eats and brews, or dancing through one of the lively festivals, there’s something for everyone.
